GENERAL LEDGER
Delivery Format: On-line Training/On-Site Custom Training/Megasys Training Center
Duration: 8 hours (delivered in 2 hour increments)
Audience: The target audience is the accountant(s) of the property who need an introduction and training on the Megasys General Ledger.
Prerequisites: None
Course Description:
This course offers a full training to the Megasys Hospitality Technology General Ledger menus, options and reports. This course is designed to develop users’ understanding of the Megasys configuration tables that control accounting periods, chart of accounts, off-setting entries to the general ledger from journals and check disbursement registers. This lesson will also teach the user how to construct a chart of accounts, as well as how to input and process financial records, using various journals and check disbursement registers for generating standard and custom financial statements.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the primary use of the GLC, GLS, GLJ and FRS Menu options
- Understand the four components of a general ledger account number
- Understand the eight prefixed divisions in the chart of accounts
- Understand the how data in configuration tables controls updates to the general ledger
- Understand how to input a budget
- Review and practice how to use the various journals
- Design custom income statements
- Display and print financial information
Course Agenda:
- Display and review the flow of financial records from journals and checks disbursements to the general ledger.
- Review the purpose of the FLC, GLS, GLJ and FRS Menus
- Explain and enter the calendar and fiscal year options and then input Accounting Periods
- Explain and input data into Department Numbers configuration table
- Explain and input Key Accounts
- Explain and practice input in the General Journal
- Explain and practice input in the Reoccuring Journal
- Explain and practice input in the Prepaid Journal
- Explain and practice input in the Allocation Journal
- Explain and practice input in the Write Off Journal
- Explain and produce a Balance Sheet
- Explain and produce an Income Statement
- Explain and produce a Trial Balance
- Explain and display the General Ledger Detail
- Explain and product Custom Income Statements
Recommended Experience:
Prior accounting experience with another system.
